Salpuri Dance

The little 10 year old girl, YOUNG-HWA who is inside me, goes through a journey from Korea to Canada. She experiences male chauvinistic nationalism in Korea as well as low class, uneducated, alcoholic, and abusive father s domestic violence. This hardship made her lose her voice and her grandmother who is Korean traditional shaman and dies with silence. However, while she is carrying her grandmother s coffin with her grudge and grief, she encounters two mentors, Emily and Sophie in the dead s realm. In that unknown world, Emily provokes her to be aware of her anger and the Aboriginal character, Sophie helps YOUNG-HWA be healed and meet her grandmother s spirit. After she witnesses the beautiful ritual, Korean shaman dance, SALPURI dance from her grandmother, the 10 year old girl starts grows as well as regains her voice.
