The Crista Dahl Media Library and Archives

The Satellite Video Exchange Society was founded in 1973 and has been collecting, sharing and distributing documentation, publications, and critical writing on artist and activist video production throughout its history.

A computer station, artist files archives, and a publications collection are available to artists, curators and the public for research.  Previewing tapes and DVDs from the origin of the collection in 1973 to today are available on DVD, VHS and 3/4" formats on-site at the collection viewing room at the VIVO Media Arts Centre in Vancouver.

Research or browsing in the archives is possible Tuesday through Saturday 11 am - 6 pm.  For extensive research, please email us at traffic@videoout.ca to reserve the viewing room for you.

We recommend you provide a list or criteria to us for your previewing.  If received two weeks in advance of your visit, we can provide your preview list of tapes, full catalogue pages, and information on the artworks and artists in your previewing or research criteria.
