On Being Alone

With audio from a series of Catherine Deneuve-narrated Chanel No. 5 advertisements from the 1970s and 1980s, On Being Alone features video footage from various royal weddings throughout the past 50 years. On Being Alone is an investigation into the conventionally oppressive gesture of marriage, particularly towards women's bodies, and the way these unions, through an intimate control, often let down the fantasy of togetherness. Alongside a pinterest desire for princess-hood, private subjugations rub up against the strange and suggestive language of advertising.
