Blue Dust

Blue Dust, a two-channel video installation, invites the viewer to consider the concept of existential freedom amidst cultural, geographical, religious, and political constraints associated with how human remains are disposed of after death, while confronting existential questions surrounding life, death, and freedom. Blue Dust portrays the journey of choosing a method for the final disposition of my body as a practice for pursuing existential freedom. While attuning to the sounds of waves and wind, I dwell in the space between the silence of stillness and the dance of disappearance. By bringing my body in collaboration with pieces of fabric and particles of blue glitter, I question the interplay between existential freedom and geographic complexities, emphasizing the privilege of living in a land that provides the necessary exposure to diverse frameworks for practicing existential freedom.
