  • The legend of Buck Kelly is the chronicle of youths illusions lost over time. When the musician Jeff Buckley drowned in 1998 his body was not found until 7 days later. Jeff s cult status had led many young fans to believe that he faked his own death. Peggy Anne Berton s intimate Super 8 film tracks her obsession with the late musician across the terrain of her own love life, from New York where she found him to Dawson City where she imagines he went. Using personal footage and stories from her life in Toronto, NYC and her travels to the Yukon collected over many years, she illustrates the serendipity that linked her to Buckley. From the wilderness to the big city to boys friends with the names Buck and Kelly. She charts a tale that travels between fantasy, memory and reality touching on the power of dreams, the disillusionment of fame and the loss of love. In the spirit of Robert Service, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel the film plays like a collection of ballads with Marc St- Aubin s original soundtrack providing a musical theme and character for each scene.
