Love Letters 1&2

He was nineteen, and it was his first: kiss, holding hands, staying over. The summer ended quickly. He went to the East Coast for college; I left for Southern California for grad school. I missed him terribly and made these two tapes for him. I used footage I shot of him over the summer and footage of me at school in Irvine in my daily activities (driving, waiting for the mail, daydreaming). Through the use of popular love songs, the first letter expresses the euphoria of a new romance, while bitterness, disenchantment, and desperation reflect the failed connection of the second letter.
