The impact of the ever present home video camera is the framework of this satirical look at communication breakdowns in the typical family unit. It s through the recordings of the Freemans home video camera that we observe Peter, the frustrated Òmiddle child , being pushed to the limit as his family celebrates his birthday -obliviously recording the event with their home video camera. Ironically, it s this camera that Peter uses, after stealing it and his father s car, to air his grievances with his family. The camera becomes an active and instrumental tool in breaking down the communication barriers that have been built up by the family s inattentiveness to one another.
