Other Tongues Compilation

A part of the REGIONAL LANDSCAPES series, OTHER TONGUES is curated by Marusya Bociurkiw. From the literal language or patois of one s ancestors to the fleeting, metaphoric codes of gestures, body movement, custom and place, the videos included in this pacakge examine language as a troubled site of cultural identity that moves beyond the autobiographical. At turns experimental, lyrical and ironic, these videos grapple with the different ways in which we encode conflicting notions of selfhood, citizneship/diaspora, and a fragile sense of home.
