Peuk Nepi - Meeting Waterwoman

Peuk Nepi, Meeting Waterwoman is a short video ritual where Cree author, director, and actor James Nicholas calls himself using his Cree name, Pau i stik, down into the depths of a well. Water is the state of life as represented by Waterwoman when she enters the Native American peyote ceremony at dawn. She beckons people to come to their own depth, to go within, that in the darkness there is light, fire. This video is done in support of those who have experienced loss through suicide and those who have had the courage to survive through great pain. Songs are by Joyce Dancer.
