Southall On Trail

A documentation of the Southall riot and its aftermath. Southall is a predominatly black community in South London in wich thousands of residents marched to protest the National Front holding a meeting in the community Ôs town hall. The aftermath of this Ôpeaceful protest was one death, hundreds of appalling injuries, and 342 local residents charged, out of which an unbelievable 85% were convicted. In the words of one commentator, ÒThe right of a black community to defend itself against racism and the right to demonstrate are both on trial.
