Split Screen Test

Part of the "Audition Tape Series", Audition Tapes is a series of video works that uses the Hollywood celebrity model and the mainstream entertainment product to make art. The Series also examines pre-production systems as they apply to mainstream media production. In Split Screen Test, the artist appears in the role of actor reading a text. A split screen method is used; on one screen, the actor is delivering the text - on the other she is passively observing. The actor becomes both subject and object, viewer and star as the view of the self becomes engulfed and diminished in the face of celebrity.
