ÒSpring is a spirited celebration of a young girl s independence and achievements. There is a lively dialogue between camera and subject. Rebecca reveals her abilities to the tapemaker and challenges her to respond to her youth. Catherine Elwes does so by showing off in the way she knows how - with her video technology. Perhaps she feeels that, as a woman, it is a taboo for her to show off with electronics as it is for the girl to show off her body. Lisa Haskell
