  • A woman s reexamination of her complicity in the creation of images of her own destruction in film school and the utility of disassociative states and reenactment that made it possible.

The white in white palace stands for the sensory white out of dissassociative response, and the ghostly quality of the images that have been unburied. The palace is that place of escape and melodrama that makes a secret bearable.

"In White Palace Jen Fisher focuses not on the problem of mortality, but the challenge of survival. It is not that she has so much 16mm footage of herself as a young woman playing dead, or that her performance is so thoroughly convincing, but that the narrative voice over explores the psychological and emotional reasons that make playing dead a strategy of survival."
